Plan the New Jersey handoff before choosing a date
A Newark or Jersey City curb, a suburban driveway, and a shore-community street create different loading problems. The New Jersey Turnpike Authority prohibits heavy trucks with a registered weight of 10,000 pounds or more north of Interchange 105 on the Garden State Parkway. Do not choose a roadside meeting point or assume a service area permits loading without checking permission and access.
For an apartment move, ask building management where loading is allowed before booking. For a dealer pickup, provide the dealership contact and release hours. If you are flying out first, identify a representative who can hand over the keys, inspect the car with the driver, and sign the pickup condition record.
Choose the trailer around the car and loading space
Open transport moves vehicles on an exposed trailer and is an option for an ordinary daily driver. Enclosed transport uses a covered trailer; discuss it for a collector car or a vehicle whose finish and clearance warrant a different loading plan. A covered trailer does not remove street-access restrictions.
For a non-running purchase, describe more than the failed engine. Does the car roll, steer, and brake? Are all wheels fitted? Are the keys available? A disabled car parked deep inside a garage may need a different retrieval arrangement from one waiting on accessible pavement. Tell the coordinator before a carrier is assigned, so equipment and access can be evaluated together.

For a financed or leased vehicle, MVC describes a title-release step with the lender or leasing company. Begin checking that paperwork before the shipment arrives. Ask MVC which appointment and documents apply to your transaction; do not assume the driver will handle registration or that transport makes the car ready to drive legally.
Before the car changes hands
