The driver records your vehicle's condition at pickup, you confirm it again at delivery, and that document is what protects you in the rare event of a transit damage claim. Photograph your vehicle before pickup, inspect it in good light at delivery, and note any discrepancy on the Bill of Lading before signing. One practical note on packing: most carriers allow up to about 100 pounds of personal items in the trunk or below the window line, but personal contents are not covered by carrier cargo insurance, so ship valuables separately.
